Making Soap

What’s that Olivia??? Saponification?????   What was that ? Yes!!! It’s SCIENCE!!!! Saponification is a process by which triglycerides are reacted with sodium or potassium hydroxide (lye) to produce glycerol and a fatty acid salt called “soap.” The triglycerides are most often animal fats or vegetable oils. When sodium hydroxide is used, a hard soap is produced.  Yes! Here at the Alpine Made farm we believe in science, it works for us everyday.  Join us for a day of soaping and learn the process and the art of soapmaking.♥
